New Mills Wesleyanism S. Evans
Published in 1912, this little book tells of the History,
Traditions, Rise and Progress of Wesleyanism in New Mills Derbyshire.
As the preface says, " At the request of the Centenary Committee, this
little book as been written with a view of rescuing from oblivion a
great deal of information respecting New Wills Wesleyanism."
In addition to the text, there are photographs of the main people
concerned with the movement, the buildings used for the movement and
copies of the original deeds. Contained in the book is a list
of the pew rentals and some of the many Memorial Inscriptions within
the church yard.
This is in no way a circuit history, but a brief sojourn into the
life and times of the Wesley followers within a small parish. It
also tells of the persecution one or two of the members suffered in
their pursuit to preach the "good word."
