Sussex Augustus J. C. Hare

From his home in St Leonard's on Sea Augustus Hare wrote this
book about his home county. Starting at Tunbridge Wells he describes
every village and town in some detail, from traditions to legends, places
to visit and walks to undertake. He mentions one or two people who
for whatever reason deserve mentioning.
Brasses and monumental inscriptions are mentioned although I would not
suggest that this is comprehensive and in fact they are limited.
With some pictures of the time this book is an ideal companion for
those who want to know what their ancestors would have known.
Fully searchable and Augustus Hare is well known for writing books on walks in places such as London and Rome.
